Quote:
My group have annual event for celebrating new year : renting a villa in outskirts area and stayed there, usually for 2 nights although some of us can only join during date 31. Specially this time, we plays so many games so i decide to write down our new year event here so more people could enjoy our story

A brief explanation of my group. We are not boardgame specialized group, we started hanging together as badminton group, from several high school friends who had not seen each other for some years. But it happened that our group grew larger. I first introduce boardgame to my group in 2011, though not everyone are gamer, especially the girls. But as life goes on, the ones who hang out regularly are the ones who play games, around 12 people although not everyone attends weekly and only few of us can stand playing heavier games

Currently there are only two persons in my group who own the games, namely me and my fellow geek (link).

And while this describes the rundown of our event, this is also my logged plays, upgraded from my usual writing for this particular time only :)

Shopping List
2013/12/30
My friend first picked me up at noon, then we picked up our chef and we did some shopping. We finished at around 2 PM then went straight to the villa, picking up some friends on the way there

Pony Express
We tidied up the villa as soon as we arrived at around 4 PM. That took us around half an hour.
After that we sat down, and it was time for some gaming. To celebrate the upcoming year of the Horse, we start the gaming session with Pony Express

Well no, the year of the Horse was still a month away, i brought this one up because it was currently our hottest game

We play with 5. I have the Lasso card since the beginning so i was not afraid of anyone getting far ahead, and called all bluff. This is quite effective to put me around half the track before going to jail. Ricky lead the race and was about reaching Sacramento before i pull him back. I lost the duel because i hit another player, but i manage to prevent him from winning the game, as apparently he needed to leave and pick up her GF asap. We continued the game with 4 players then. I lost the game, but being the player who hit the most innocent bystander was quite satisfying

For Sale
Unfortunately our chef forgot to bring several of his kitchen utensil so he needed to return to the city for awhile. While waiting, we played easy game because there were two non-gamers, so i decided to play For Sale

We play with 6 players. Property number 29 and 30 appeared in first two rounds so half of us had so few money left in the remaining rounds. The first phase ended with me having 4 cards around number 19-27 and only one low numbered property so the second phase was very easy for me. I won the game with $2k difference

Dixit Odyssey
We were still waiting for our chef so next i set this game up. It was getting late and we started getting hungry. We played around 9 rounds before our chef returned and we stopped the game then start the dinner

Marbles
We had steak and bacon for dinner. Our chef said the meat was meltic or marble or something, i was not sure but it was especially delicious and that was the important thing. But it was not enough so we added bacon and rice to our menu

Limits 2x
After dinner, Ricky asked for Coloretto but i kinda wanted to recall this game so we played it instead

We ended up playing two rounds of 12 tricks. Calling the limit correctly only score us +1 point so we kinda played safe during the first round, and one player even had no point throughout the 12 tricks so i decided to increase the scoring. I mixed in the +5 point cards and shuffled the score pile, and whoever score point would draw two cards from there. It worked, and maybe too effectively because this time i never had the chance to call limit while two players scored like crazy

Shadow Hunters 2x
Some friends were asking for this game but i needed to use the toilet so i skipped this game. And while i was at it, i also take a quick shower because it was already around 9 PM

Ticket to Ride : Asia
When i finished my shower, the Shadow Hunters sessions had already ended and Ricky was playing this. So i played with my phone for awhile...

Hive 4x
Someone was also unoccupied so i tried asking him to play this. I like this game quite a lot, but have never got any success in drawing anyone into this game. Until now, that is. Who would had guessed that my non-gamer friend was actually good at playing this game?

During the first game, i decided to secretly gave him advantage by not using any Ants. But he managed to defended himself well until i was out of piece, so i had to use my Ants. I won the first match, then he asked for another round. Gladly, i started the second round, but this time it ended with a draw. And he even beat me in the third match, so i had to play with full force then.

1 victory, 1 draw, and 1 lose. Everyone else were already preparing the bed for sleep, so we decided to settled the score immediately. And as i had expected, it was about time that he asked about the four pieces i set aside since the first game, so we added the Mosquito for this final match for this night. This time i used my Ants since early game and began attacking swiftly, expecting to capture his Queen fast. But he managed to defend against my first round of attack, so i decided to add more pieces into the hive, and he started attacking my Queen. But being on the defensive side for his first three games did not give him much experience in attacking. And he still was not good at playing Ants, probably copying me as well, so that settled the match to my victory. Our Mosquitos did not even matter

Tigris and Euphrate
Everyone fell asleep quite fast, but i was not sleepy yet so i took out my tablet and played this against bots before going to sleep. I lost the game by 1 point, because i rarely get blue tile

Terra Mystica
13/12/31
The guys woke up before the girls did, so we took the chance to play the heavier game, and this was currently our hottest heavy game at the time.

4 players game, i tried the Giant this time because i was curious of how difficult a race this was. Other races are Alchemist, Witch, and Nomads. I built my stronghold during first round, because Nomads did the same so i need to protect my territory. I mostly expand my settlements during round 2 and 3, converting the workers into gold when needed. I only realized it was not efficient during later rounds, but my income was really scarce so i did not have many choice. I thought i should not have rushed my stronghold then, better played it slowly but got more income. By the end of the game i only built one city, and 3rd place in both settlement majority and temple track, which put me on the last place overall

Well, at least i had the most breakfast while playing the game

7 wonders
The girls started waking up when we were playing Terra Mystica, and they had been asking to play so we immediately continued our morning session by setting up this game

I played as Olympia B, collecting resources and build two of my wonder stage during the first age. Since the second age we started building up military power, but one of my neighbor is Rhodos so i could only win against the other one. During the third age i build the 7 and 8 blue cards, a guild, my third wonder stage, one yellow, and another military to secure the VP. I thought i was playing well, so i was not sure how i could end up ranked 4th from 6 players

Castle of Burgundy
When i finished my morning shower, Ricky had already started the game with 4 players, so i guessed it was time...

Hive 7x
To play this again. Another series of good games, the first four rounds ended with 2 wins and 2 loses. We played rather dull during the fourth round so we took some breather before continuing

When i came back, my hive buddy was teaching this game to another friend. He almost lost the game, but manage to defend himself perfectly, to the point of locking the proper number of his opponent's piece and won the game instead. Well that looked really cool, much better than our games afterwards

I settled the score 2-1 for my victory. I hoped we would play this again, we still have the Ladybug unplayed

Chicken Cha Cha Cha
We had KFC for lunch, delivery service. It was kinda late for lunch, around 2 PM, so we did not each much to save some space for our great dinner :)

Cash and Gun
The morning session was filled with heavier games, so we dropped the tension by playing lighter games. We started the afternoon session by playing Cash and Gun with 6 players, basic rule. I am not sure how to describe a game of Cash and Gun because the choices are rather personal. We did eliminate one person who were nagging to play since the morning, though. We believed it was for good :D

Afterwards we wanted to play another round, this time using the ability cards, but both Ricky and i forgot what the cards were saying and we did not have the rulebook with us, so we set up another game

Limits 2x
There were many who wanted to play this so i looked for another game instead. At this moment many of us were resting, some were taking pictures around the villa, and some looked unoccupied

Coloretto 4x
I wanted to play Mascarade but i could only gather 5 people so i took this game instead. It turned out only 4 of us playing, though. This is a good game to play with non-gamer, as it was quite funny as well. We played it 4 times, where i got very lucky during the last game and it was about time we stopped

Traders of Carthage
After the game there were only 3 of us left, so next i set up this game

I taught my hive buddy briefly as the other one had played this game before, then we started the game. I kinda dominated the selling early game, but it costed me much gold. My opponents started to collect VP when i was collecting gold, but eventually i managed to leech trading a little for a while before going for another big trade and ended the game. I won the game and the score was around 25-23-21, quite close

Terra Mystica
After playing Limits twice Ricky set this game up and taught two new players and asked me if i wanted to join, but i kindly refused a 5 players game with newbies because i knew it would be loooong. By the time i finished playing Carthage the game had only finished 2nd round and the newbies looked like they were having a hard time.

One of them was playing Chaos Magician and having his settlements pinched by two players, rendering him helpless. On the other hand, the other newbie playing as Witch had good position on the board, even though she herself did not look good, i thought the game was too complex for her. Well i practically played on her place since then and won 2nd place. And this was the first time i passed through 100 VP

Coloretto 4x
This was being played again for another 4 rounds when i was helping with Terra Mystica, though obviously they finished the game and started dinner first

Sukimono
We had two menu for this new year eve dinner tonight : korean bbq and japanese suki. But the guy responsible for the bbq had not arrived yet so we decided to start the suki first. Our chef was amazing, the broth was the best i had ever tasted. But i gotta save some space for the bbq too

Dixit Odyssey
It was around 8 PM, and now almost everyone had gathered in the villa, though some people were still eating and some were watching TV.

I took this one out, and we played with 9 people. I was not sure whether to use two pegs or one, so i started the game with fairly easy question.. and everyone guessed correctly. So then we only use one peg for guessing for the rest of the game

We had a blast here. For me the outstanding clues were : preparing the future, showing off surplus and deficit, walking backwards, not indonesia not china not japan :)

I lost the first place to Ricky because i missed the last question : curse at end of time, and chose his card instead. curse him...

Barbeque Party
I had high hope for this bbq but it wasn’t tasted that good :(

And everyone were queuing for food so i took a quick shower first before continuing dinner. Chef matters, because when i grilled the meat and ate for myself it tasted great. The early meats were either overcooked or even burnt

Lemonade Stand
We needed something fresh after the bbq, so i suggested that we play this, and got 4 players immediately. I would prefer that we had a real lemonade though..

I failed my gamble at the first day, so i kinda played safe during the following days. This saved me from losing big at the thunderstorm day. My chance appeared at the last day : i sold 10 glasses at 15 cents price, played a prank to Ricky using Magic Marker, and get profit high enough to win the game

Marvel Avengers : Iron Man Armor Up
I was curious to what my friends were doing, so i entered the bedroom and found... myself rolling on one of the bed :D

Playing all day was quite tiring, especially because we were sitting and playing on the floor, so straightening my back felt very relaxing. I almost fell asleep there if my friend did not call me out at around 11.30 PM.

The TV were playing The Avengers at the time. Loki was so funny :)

Mat Goceng
Some friends were playing this game in the middle room, soon the game ended and we all went outside and play..

Hanabi
And i meant a real hanabi (fireworks). Our villa was located on the outskirts and there was only few buildings near us, so the change of year would feel so silence without us lighting the fireworks by ourselves

and i guess this is a good time to say HAPPY NEW YEAR guys!!!

The Werewolves of Miller's Hollow 6x
After the fireworks event ended and some photographs we went inside again, and some people started asking for werewolf session, so here we go…

My copy of Ultimate Werewolf was being lent so we used Ricky’s copy of Miller’s Hollow instead. There were 16 people playing the first game, with me being the moderator. I used 4 Werewolves and all characters with ability, except Thief for the first game. So during the first night..

Forget it :D

There is no way i can remember everything that had happened for our 6 continuous sessions. I was the moderator for 3 sessions then people started volunteering to be one, mainly because they were tired of dying everytime. I mixed the Thief cards in starting third session, but for some reason the player holding the Thief always died either in first night or first being lynched, maybe the card was cursed?

We started the first game with 16 people then last two people could not resist to join us and all of us were playing together starting from fourth session. The werewolves were kinda strong so i added another role, Guardian, to the game during the fifth session and really, he saved the villager just in time : there were only 5 villager and 4 werewolves left, and he protected the right person during the night and the werewolves were started to die one by one until the villagers won the game. Unfortunately i was one of the werewolves

The sixth and last session also ended in epic way : 4 villagers and 2 werewolves were left when the Mayor died by werewolves’ attack. The new Mayor had to choose between two persons : one innocent villager and one werewolf, and she chose...

the villager, and we lost. Unfortunately i was one of the villager this time. Anyway the sixth session ended at around 3.30 AM so it was time to sleep

Dominion
Morning comes. Everyone wake up, open your eyes. Luckily no one died last night.. wait, the werewolf session had ended, right?

14/01/01
I woke up at around 8.30, Ricky said it would be a waste to bring my Dominion box without playing it even once, so i set up the game immediately.

Kingdom cards : Council Room, Duchess, Embassy, Envoy, Fool’s Gold, Governor, Ill-Gotten Gains, Masquerade, Mining Village, Smugglers
The concept was to allow player interaction without using Attack cards

I started the game with Silver and Envoy, then Governor and Gold immediately. It turned out everyone also bought Governor so all of us had so much money and the Province got depleted very quickly. I ended up being 3rd place, the score was 27-21-19-16. I should have bought another Envoy instead of that Governor. And that Ill-Gotten Gains i bought was not that effective because of Masquerade

Ticket to Ride : Europe
After a quick breakfast we set up this game, but there were many friends who wanted to play, so Ricky and me took the chance to back off and instead we played...

Seasons + expansion
This game. Only few people in my group could play this game, and usually Ricky and i have to get involved in our games even if we split the group so we rarely have the chance to play games like this. And this was one of those rare chance

We play with 2 players, with all cards from the expansion, but without Enchantment card and bonus tile.

I first picked Arcano Leech, practically giving up Divine Chalice for Ricky. Then i chose Jewel of the Ancients over Wondrous Chest, then my favorite card Necrotic Kriss. There were two Staff of Spring and i could not afford to give him both. There were also both Runic Cube of Eolis and Potion of Dream so i picked the Eolis first, which was a correct choice.

I played Arcano Leech on the first round, so Ricky also burned his point to summon Elemental Amulet which was his first pick. Next he summoned Wondrous Chest (then Staff of Spring), so i have to speed up the game. I summoned Amulet of Water and Staff of Spring during the first year

I started the second year with Jewel of the Ancients. I kinda dropped the tempo there because i lacked Air energy to summon my Steadfast Die and Necrotic Kriss, and i summoned Potion of Life (i got this from drawing) instead to avoid losing energy. Ricky got Hand of Fortune from his Divine Chalice, which is good combo with his Wondrous Chest. But his Crystal Orb was kinda wasted, and i think he summoned Pendant of Ragnor at incorrect time.

During the third year i drawed Familiar Catcher which netted me Thieving Fairies, perfect card for countering his Mirror of Season and Balance of Ishtar. His combo stopped with Raven the Usurper, copying my Dragon Skull to sacrifice his low point cards. I waited for the Fall season before summoning my Eolis and Naria which gave me Demon of Argos. Naria failed to give him burden card because he still had Potion of Dream, but at least i could sacrifice Naria for summoning Demon of Argos

I won the game at around 214-196 points

By the time we finished playing Seasons, the TTR session had already ended for around 5 minutes, made me kinda wondering whether we played slowly or them played very fast

Anyway that settled our 3 day, 2 night stay for 2014 new year party, and it ended with my victory. Time to go home then

Home Sweet Home
So, over the approximately 45 hours of new year event we played 18 out of 30 games we brought, without counting the expansions. We had 47 sessions in total, and i participated in 35 of them.

Was that enough? I’d say no, but we shouldn’t be too greedy :D

btw cara bikin spoiler gimana yah :mikir:

Yet we called ourselves as M.I.B which can stands for Made In Bandung, Maen.In.Boardgame, Maen.In.Badminton, or whatever it is... :D Our motto are "We Live For Fun" yaay... :horee:

Anyway without further do, here's my recap :

30-12-2013
Pony Express 1x - 5P Game. The dice rolling seems goes to my favor, 2x dapet Full House tanpa harus re-roll & successfully bluffing with that... I was leading and almost win until Jim pull me back with his Lasso card... Curse him :marah: After that, I drop the game halfway to pick up my GF... The game being continued with 4P...
Limits 2x - This... Dunno why, I'm always suck at memory games. I ended up with negative points on both games (don't know how many hehe... ) - See, I can't even remember my scores as well... :D
Shadow Hunters 2x - Played as Shadow both games, and lost miserably... :( Both games goes to Hunter's victory without having any casualties... Seems like the Neutral players is aiding Hunters as well... :nono: First game, I play as Vampire and died too soon after reveal before I got a chance to suck Hunter's blood even once only... On second game, again Vampire was the first to die (I use Valkyrie this time), continued by Unknown... When the odds being 3:1 plus a help from Neutral as well, how could I survive that?
Ticket to Ride : Asia 1x - 5P Game. Got 2nd Place :2: The winner is the one who insist to play this game since the beginning... :D

31-12-2013
Terra Mystica 1x - Here it is, main menu in the morning... 4P Game, I try Witch, Jim use Giants... I finished on 2nd Place :2:
7 Wonders 1x - 7P Game. I use Ephesos (B). The resource is really scarce for me during the 1st Age, only managed to build manufactured goods (grey). I gave up Military since the beginning, because my left was Rhodos and thought that my right (Babylon) wouldn't chase Military, but it was a bad idea then and cost me -6 points...
Castle of Burgundy 1x - 4P Game. I got 1st Place... :no1: We all use the number 1 board. I manage to secure castle and mine on my first turn. Being the first to complete castle and mine, and second on knowledge and building...
Cash and Guns 1x - 6P Game. 2nd Place :no2:
Limits 1x
Terra Mystica 1x - 4P Game with 2 first timer. I use Darklings this time and got 3rd Place. The winner using Fakirs and build his settlement like crazy, almost build on all of the base sand site on the board, and being 1st in Area scoring. The newbie ones (Witch) was assisted by Jim and took 2nd Place...
Dixit Odyssey 1x - 9P Game. 1st Place :no1: Each player had 2 turns being story teller. On my turn, my clue was : walking backwards, and I love Baskin-Robbins... This session was hilarious and fun ... I manage to overtake Jim on the last clue... :punk:
Lemonade Stand 1x - 4P Game. 2nd Place :2:
Mat Goceng 1x - 5P Game. Played as Mat Goceng and guess what? ...was killed by Nyi Kencleng :??? :??? :???

01-01-2014
The Werewolves of Miller's Hollow 6x - 3 wins and 3 losses... Never played as Werewolf. Three times win as a villager (1x as common villager, 1x as Witch doctor and 1x as Cupid)
Dominion 1x - 4P Game. 2nd Place :2:
Seasons 1x - 2P Game. Lose to Jimmy and got 2nd Place :2:

Total 17 sessions with 13 games played (exclude The Werewolves of Miller's Hollow)
2x 1st Place
6x 2nd Place
1x 3rd Place
Unfinished - 1x
Yah, kl di klasemen balapan F1 sih hasil segini not bad lah... :siul:
