Well... the game is unique, the core mechanic in the game is bidding. Yes, bidding but with interesting currency, workers.
But, there are also other good mechanics used, such as worker placement, tile activation and placement, resource management and networking.
My first play experience is the game is quite deep and takes several plays to understand or grasp the real approach needed to play the game efficiently. Last night somehow the first and second seasons were pretty much focused on bidding (at least for me) and somehow I kinda 'neglected' my home, which on third season I just realized that I need to pimped out my home to generate better points and resource gathering.
A bit too much for a game with short game play, but AP prone. Why? Because you only have 4 seasons (well practically 3 since winter doesn't really count as a whole season) and there are so many things to do with, bidding tiles and activate buildings.
What makes the game is AP prone? Basically the bidding is very unique, and you can reallocate your workers to bid another tile after they're outbid by others. You can also pass and see what others actions first before taking a turn in the next, (which pretty much tactical). The worst (not a very bad thing) thing is that you must / have to observe other players home for their buildings effect, yes you can activate other players building.
Overall, I spit 8/10 out of this game based on my first hand play, and like the bidding mechanic quite much, very clever! But I guess, it best with 3-4 players.

g seh suka gamenya, feelingnya rada sama ketika main Agricola dan Le Havre, cuma tempat ngumpetin workernya kudu dikasih pemberat biar ga gampang kegoyang atau keangkat hanya karena playernya bergerak... soale pasti akan berdiri utk liat / aktivasi tile yg ada di player seberang. :D

@kris: koq bisa menurut loe best with 3/4 bro? kalo keramean knp ya? terlalu lama downtime`nya? atau chaotic? soalnya biasa kan bidding games the more the merrier.. hehe..

Kmrn ber6 lumayan chaotic seh menurut gw selain uda pasti nambah playing time.Chaotic terutama pas uda mulai deket2 winter di mana tile untuk resource uda mulai jarang keluar, jadi mau ga mau harus activate tile orang laen.

Kemarin itu tile yang bisa untuk distribute barang laku banget, uda itu tuh tile cuman ada 2 saat itu. Y uda dehh, banyak yang ngincer, jadinya berasa chaotic. Padahal gw yang punya tilenya malah ga bisa activate gara2 pd berebutan activate tuh tile :(

Kalo masalah bidding sehh ga terlalu ngaruh sehh ama jumlah pemain, there are enough tiles to bid :D
Kemarin sehh sempet ada diskusi tentang the advantage to be first player. Kayaknya jadi first player lumayan ngaruh juga dehh, optionnya jadi lebih banyak :lol:

hmm gua ga merasa chaotic sih ya kemaren ber6. menurut gua semakin banyak player terutama dengan max jumlah player jadi lebih tercontrol, kalo less player lebih more random.

karna gini, with more player more tiles are used in the game, otomatis lebih predictable tile2 yang akan kepake lebih banyak. contoh dari boatnya dipake semua enam2nya. trus tile untuk 3 season spring, summer and autumn juga lebih banyak kepake. otomatis opsi lebih banyak yang keluar.

dalam kasus goods transportation tile, memang betul jumlahnya di 3 season itu fix, lupa ada berapa, tapi at least perplayer punya masing2 satu di home tilenya. dan karna jumlah pemain sedikit (3-4 player) chance untuk keluar transportation tile tersebut di 3 musim itu juga menjadi lebih kecil. in other words ujung2nya pada rebutan juga di winter season.

yg gua dapetin dari gamenya so far,
- unless there is a decent amount of VP di tilenya, there is no need to own that tile in your village, especially by overbidding it, karna lu tetep bisa utilize someone else's tile in their village, so first player menjadi key factor di sini.
- upgrading the tile also not really worth for tiles that don't generate VPs, karna malah jadi keenakan orang laen yang make, kita yang spent the resource and worker to upgrade, they're the ones who benefit from it.
- the game is a little bit more tactical than strategical, so no need to plan jauh ke depan karna everything is based on bidnya orang2 dan tile yang keluar di akhir winter.
- the green worker can be really powerful if you can manage to get it.

Too chaotic sih not the key factor here, but as you can see, the down time is the most annoying problem. Since each player will probably observe other players board and condition and also the bidding situation can make others flip flop from one to another.
First player emang punya advantage-nya sendiri, secara in last season, this one can be very crucial to determine which tile you want to activate first and this means you have control on what color to bid the tile (which could be pretty handy in future turns).
