It's a brand new game, a route building game, yet using the same simple randomizer board, victory conditions, and special actions.

Rules

After reading... it's a pass for me. Clearly very tactical, meski pake card, there's no hand management at all! Km dapet kartu terrain apa ya musti bangun di terrain itu. No choice. Decisionnya sih emang pada waktu ngeletakin settlementmu itu di hex mana. But too much restriction for my taste (udah dari kartu, harus nyambung, harus 3 biji lagi).

Padahal scoringnya lumayan intersting karena dari 10 tipe scoring tiap game cuman dipake 4 (rada2 mirip troyes, dari 6 cuman dipake sejumlah player) tapi kalo yg ini uda dibuka dari awal.

agreed, initial impression dari rules adalah..

race to special tile, then race on placing house next to gold tile..

that's it

palingan clever play nya dari 3 scoring card, tapi itu juga OBVIOUS.. gak ada cunning hidden agenda >.<

I dont know... ini gamenya rules light banget... dan dari pengalaman gue, game yang rules light bisa saja (tp tidak selalu) punya banyak subtleties yang hanya bisa ketahuan kalo udah main berulang-ulang. Carcassonne juga cuma draw 1, tapi ternyata cukup brain burning. Apalagi kalo lawannya setara. Beda sama game yang lebih ribet, gue lebih gampang pinpoint ini game bakal gue suka apa kagak.

Rasanya sih cukup menarik. Meski depthnya belum bisa diketahui, tapi game ini cukup punya breadth, dengan adanya subset victory condition dan available special ability. Ini salah satu faktor yg gue suka dari desain2 DXV. Ada sedikit unsur civ juga dengan exploration & 'teknologi' baru.

Satu lagi, gamenya very well designed. Dari warna komponen kayu yang nggak dobel dengan warna hex di board (kecuali kayu biru di aer), sampe bagian belakang map yang dipake untuk scoring.

Rasanya makanannya kohee nih. Vibe nya mirip2 Tobago dan Isla Dorada.

well, bener sih, makin simple rulenya, kadang2 ada deep layer yang gak keliatan, such as if there is no other location to be placed on the board, you can start jump. Dan luck of the draw bisa di mitigate karena mapnya luas (jadi dari satu jenis land card, bisa macem2 scoringnya, depend on the special scoring.

We'll see deh. Mungkin emang buat family game.. :(

Ah, setelah gue baca2 lagi, ini cukup menarik.

Pertama sistem scoringnya. Karena objectivenya beda-beda, 1 game dengan lainnya bisa jadi beda banget. Bakal menarik liat settlement berkembang di pinggiran sungai, deket kota, atau jadi rute perjalanan. Tapi emang scoring yang pake unsur2 horizontal itu jadi aneh sih :?

Yang kasi nyawa kayanya emang special abilitiesnya. Movement pertama memang restricted, tapi bakal naik exponentially as the game goes. Apalagi mandatory movenya bisa sesudah atau sebelum special omve. Boardnya juga unik. Ada yang 1 sector dgn 1 castle dan 2 location, tapi ada yg sebaliknya juga. Misalnya aja di tile oasis ada castle di tengah pulau... kalo diambil di awal game, kemungkinan lompat ke hex2 yg nun jauh di sana bisa cepet terjadi. Lucu juga nih game kayanya. Bisa jadi 'nutup border hex biar bisa lompat' atau ability 'tower' ini bikin gamenya punya banyak possibilities yang terlalu berat buat di grasp sama casual players.

Ok, after I reread the rule, trnyata each castle only provide 3 gold. Most of the gold comes from the special scoring.

And then, you only have 40 settlements to begin with, so maximum of 14 turns if you don't take any location tiles. But your opponents must have taken some, so average of 10 turns. It's pretty tight in terms of actions. It creates a false forgiving camouflage where in reality, each settlements counts (attractive to both family and gamers)

permainannya lumayan simple dan variatif. arah permainan tergantung dari kartu kingdom buildernya dan cara main tiap orang tergantung kreasi dan extra action masing2 orang.

Oke, setelah tiga game (which is horribly insufficient for such a game), ini sekitar 8-9 buat gue. Mungkin masih bisa nambah setelah additional play. Belum nyentuh Nomads.

Ini salah satu game yang sangat menonjol aspek spatialnya. Jadi buat yang suka elemen spatial, KB ini esensial banget. Mikirin urutan make special abilitynya (yang dipilih random 4 dari 8) lebih seru dari yang gue bayangin, karena ternyata winning conditionsnya (yang dipilih random 3 dari 10) compound special abilities-nya in wildly different ways, depending on the game setup.

Secara fundamental ada kemiripan dengan Dominion. Get special abilities, build points. Tapi sementara basisnya Dominion permainan variabel (resource), di sini pake map, which is infinitely more interesting for me.

Game dengan light rules, cukup dalem, rewarding kalo dengan repeat plays.

Replay value gak usah diomongin :lol:.
